Ferrari Daytona SP3
Ferrari Daytona SP3
Ferrari’s “Icona” series began as a tribute to the stylish and iconic Ferraris of the 1950s and 1960s, the sportscars which paved the way for the brand's success and status. The first two models, the Ferrari SP1 and SP2, were unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2018. Since then, collectors have shown immense enthusiasm for the Icona models. While the SP1 (one-seater) and SP2 (two-seater) draw inspiration from the renowned Ferrari Barchettas (166 MM, 750 Monza, and 860 Monza), the latest addition to the Icona series—the Ferrari Daytona SP3—pays homage to the legendary 330 P3/4 from the 1960s.
The name "Daytona" recaptures Ferrari’s triumphant triple win at the 1967 Daytona. Led by Lorenzo Bandini and Chris Amon, the Maranello team achieved a remarkable feat by securing all three podium positions at the eminent 24-hour endurance race in Florida with a 330 P3/4, a 330 P4, and a 412 P. Numerous design elements were incorporated from the victorious 330 P3/4 model—like the wraparound windshield, the removable Targa roof and the exterior mirrors positioned on the front fenders.
The sports car, though, is technically based on the Ferrari 812 Competizione. Utilizing the same 6.5-liter V12 engine, it boasts a slightly increased power output of 840 hp (618 kW), surpassing the 812 Competizione by an additional 10 hp. Consequently, this twelve-cylinder engine stands as the most potent combustion engine ever manufactured in Maranello. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling the Daytona SP3 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.85 seconds.
Only 599 units exist.
