The Faubourg Birkin pays tribute to Hermès' flagship store located at 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. Introduced in 2019 in two color variations, “Day” (Brown) and “Night” (Blue), the Faubourg Birkin, became known as the “House Birkin” due to its charming building-façade-like design. Upon its release, the Faubourg Birkin quickly became a highly coveted handbag among collectors due to its rarity and adorable design. The Sellier technique was the perfect choice to showcase the clever construction of this Birkin, the first-ever to be offered in the 20cm size.

In 2021, two new colorways were released—”Neige/Snow” and “Minuit/Midnight” editions—rounding out the “Faubourg” wardrobe: one for day and one for night, one for spring/summer and one for autumn/winter.

The building’s daytime facade is beautifully replicated in a winter-toned palette with signature hints of Hermès orange.  The main body (the “brick wall”) is in creamy Béton Matte Alligator leather (which the padlock is also wrapped in). The window frames and line detailing are in tonal chalky-white Craie Swift leather and the glass window panes are in icy light-blue Bleu Brume Chèvre leather. The petite window awnings are clever flaps crafted in Swift leather—mostly white (to replicate snow) with edges in Orange H peeping out. The key-holding clochette—often mistaken for a mini Hermès shopping bag!—is also in Orange H Swift leather.  The front flap, strap, and handles are made from textured White Togo calfskin leather, matching with the White Sombrero leather used for the base.

The Snow Faubourg, also known as the “White House Birkin,” is the most coveted and rarest of the four, with its unique incorporation of alligator leather on the body rather than on the flap.

This limited edition has never been worn. The Neige (“Snow”) Faubourg, being one of the rarest handbags currently in production by Hermès, is truly a prized possession for collectors. In fact, collecting all four color versions of this bag—the 2019 “Day” (Brown) and “Night” (Blue) and the 2021 “Minuit/Midnight” (Black) and “Neige/Snow” (White)—has become known as the “Faubourg Square.”
