Artisans De Genève, the independent workshop that offers personalization of high-end timepieces, took on a bespoke project for Juan Pablo Montoya, the racing legend. Named The Montoya Platinum Challenge, this is an extra-ordinary project involved in the customization of a Platinum Rolex Daytona. For Montoya, It was really important to keep the codes of the original version—the skeleton, the colors of the Colombian flag, the carbon bezel—while maintaining a clean design.

The base watch is the Rolex Daytona with a 40mm platinum case, equipped with the Rolex 4130 calibre automatic movement, complete with a 72-hour power reserve and a solid racing chronograph.In the atelier’s typical style that means plenty of skeletonization, both across the sky blue dial subtly painted with the colors of the Colombian flag and the movement underneath. It’s an intense technical showcase of a movement we don’t often see openworked, enhanced all the more with a lovely matte palladium finish. There is definitely a high-performance, automotive slant to the watch.
